A quick guide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-normal-font-size\">\n<li>Column or bar: comparing values across categories (sales by region, headcount by team). Columns are vertical; bars are horizontal and suit long category names.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Line: showing a trend over time (revenue by month, visitors by week).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pie or doughnut: showing parts of a whole, when you have just a few categories. Avoid it for more than about five slices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scatter (XY): showing the relationship between two numeric variables (price vs sales).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combo: plotting two different measures together (revenue as columns, margin percentage as a line on a secondary axis).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Newer types: modern Excel also offers Histogram (distribution), Waterfall (running totals and variances), Treemap and Sunburst (hierarchies), Funnel (stages in a process) and Map charts (geographic data). Find them under Insert &gt; Charts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-format-and-customise-your-chart\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-4-font-size\">How to format and customise your chart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Once the chart is on the sheet, click it and use these controls:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-normal-font-size\">\n<li>Chart Elements (the + button beside the chart): switch chart title, axis titles, data labels, legend, gridlines and trendline on or off.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chart Styles (the brush icon, or the Chart Design tab): apply a ready-made style and colour scheme in one click.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chart Design tab: change the chart type, switch the row and column orientation (Switch Row\/Column), add chart elements, and move the chart to its own sheet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Format tab: fine-tune colours, borders, effects and the size of individual chart parts.
